To Namche Bazaar

namche bazaar

October 13, 2010

With the difficult weather still hitting the Khumbu region of Nepal, our team was forced to spend an extra night in Kathmandu. Call it deja vu or whatever… but again Trek Climb Ski Nepal have employed the ‘helicopter rule’ to get our team to Lukla (and then to Namche Bazaar) without losing more days. And yesterday evening everyone had made it safely to Phakding albeit a little later than was originally planned. The team was up early today and given the time difference will be working their way up the famous ‘Namche Hill’ as I’m sitting here typing this post. As a veteran of around 20 trips up the Namche Hill I feel I’m well qualified to say they’ll all enjoy a good rest (and hot shower) when they arrive. Lucky for them they’ll be spending the next 2 days in style at the Namche Hotel which in my opinion is the finest hotel in all of the Khumbu… and it certainly boasts the best chilli chicken in all of Nepal! I’m expecting an update from Simon and Tika later today so as soon as I hear from them I’ll update you all with another post.

Why we love Namche Bazaar

There are always great times to be had in Namche Bazaar. Plenty of local markets and stalls to provide tourists with plenty of opportunity to support the local economy. They have some wonderful bakeries in Namche Bazaar so you can quickly put back in all the calories you burnt climbing the Namche hill the day before. Even a post office in Namche so you can send some postcards and try to beat them home. And a trip to the local Everest region museum and Everest View Hotel a must. Namche Bazaar is one of our favourite villages in all of Nepal.
