Himalayan Trekking

himalayan trekking

September 1, 2014

In our humble opinion, there are few adventure holidays as personally rewarding and fulfilling as himalayan trekking. From the moment you arrive in Kathmandu, you immediately feel you’re in for something special. And if it happens to be your first trip to Nepal, all your senses will be working overtime.

This author spent many years planning his first himalayan trekking experience – and then I was annoyed I’d taken so long! I’d made up my mind that I wanted to visit the Everest region so I booked an Everest Circuit trek. When it comes to himalayan trekking, I still regard this as the best trekking experience in Nepal, and quite possibly the best 22 day trek in the world. The Everest Circuit only takes 4 more days than the classic Everest Base Camp trek.

Himalayan trekking is a combination of many things. The mountains, the people, the environment, the culture, the food, the hospitality and the spirituality of the Himalayas. Something that instantly captivated me all those years ago – and still does – is the simplicity of life when trekking in Nepal. Many of us live busy western lives prone to stress around money, family, work and personal issues. Lives flooded with technology and the pressing need to keep up. Computers, smart-phones, tablets and social media… it’s non-stop.

Himalayan trekking with us

Himalayan trekking has always given me the opportunity to step away from the pressures of living in a big city. Walking through the mountains with my Sherpa friends and only the things I absolutely need each day strips life back in an exhilarating way. The simple task of packing my kit-bag and backpack each day represents almost all of my daily chores. Reading a book while drinking a coffee and soaking up the warmth of a pot-belly stove in a lodge at 4500m is about as simple as it gets. And the next day you get to do it all again… and again.

At Trek Climb Ski Nepal we work hard to promote the simple pleasures on all our trekking adventures. Your Sherpa guides and porters will become your very good friends and your holiday on Nepal will most likely become a life-changing experience.
