Everest Base Camp Trek Success

Fresh on the back of their Everest Base Camp trek success, our team enjoyed a well-earned day of downhill all the way from Gorak Shep to Dingboche yesterday. After days and days of constant up I can tell you from first hand experience how fantastic it feels to finally get a big day of downhill. And it’s even sweeter on the back of a successful trip which is certainly the case for Peter, Laurie, David, Darren and Suzanne. From the narrow ridge-line above Dingboche, our team will enjoy clear views of Lobuche East (6145m), Island Peak (6189m), Ama Dablam (6812m), Makalu (8481m), Cho Oyu (8201m) and Lhotse (8516m). Even on the way down the incredible views keep coming! Learn more about this trek.

A fantastic result

As this post is being released, our crew will no doubt be reflecting on their Everest Base Camp Trek success as they continue to walk down-valley. They are on the march again right now and today they’ll finish at Deboche. Deboche is a beautiful little Sherpa village (more like 4 lodges than a village to be honest) nestled in the middle of the rhododendron forests below Ama Dablam. From Deboche there are still magnificent views of Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam to be had to the north. The trek from Dingboche to Deboche is another long downhill with a tiny sting of up at the very end. But those small efforts of “up” on the way back are certainly far easier than some of the big ascents our crew have experienced over the past 2 weeks.

Celebrating Everest Base Camp Trek success

I’m sure the team have started counting down the days to their next hot shower. Will they seize the day and enjoy the great hot showers at the Namche Hotel or wait for the luxury shower experience that awaits them at The Radisson Hotel in Kathmandu.  If it was me I’d have one at Namche followed by a cold beer and a double serving of chilli chicken. The hot showers at the Namche Hotel are now actually very good. The hot water never runs out regardless of how many trekkers are using the showers at the same time – which never used to be the case.
