Everest Circuit update from Gokyo

It has been a challenging few days for our team as our latest Everest Circuit update reveals. The team is continuing on to Everest Base Camp after their time at Gokyo, Gokyo Ri and the Gokyo Lakes. Firstly, we’re very pleased to report that everyone is well. Greg and Marion however have returned to Kathmandu after Marion became ill at Gokyo. She has recovered well and will be returning with Greg to Melbourne tomorrow.

We always have a plan

As the main group left Khumjung (a few days ago), it was decided that Pauline’s health would benefit from a little more time at Namche Bazaar at 3440m. So Peter and Pauline spent a couple of extra nights in Namche and are now on their way to Everest Base Camp with our guide Santa. They will meet up with the rest of the group most likely at Lobuche. To make things interesting, there have been heavy snowfalls in the Everest region recently and the Cho La pass is currently not able to be crossed. With a good contingency plan in place, Tika and the team have now back-tracked down to Phortse village and will continue the trek to Everest Base Camp along the traditional route when they begin again today.

Our Follow Us Live expedition tracking tells the story and you can see clearly the path our team is now on. Given all the recent snow, internet facilities weren’t functioning at Gokyo so we’ll update with some current images as soon as we have them.
