Everest Circuit Trek day 8 is Gokyo Ri day. While typing this post I’ve just learned that our entire crew were successful in reaching the summit of Gokyo Ri at 5357m. This is a huge achievement and from all of us at Trek Climb Ski Nepal a HUGE congratulations to Laurie, David, Darren, Peter and Suzanne. And of course we also congratulate Gyan and Yam for the great work they are doing leading this trip – well done guys. Watch a video from the summit of Gokyo Ri to get a feel for what our team are experiencing.

The crew spent all yesterday at Gokyo and their day began with an early morning climb up the famous Gokyo Ri.

Recovering after climbing Gokyo Ri

After scaling Gokyo Ri our team trekked back down to their Gokyo lodge (resort) for a well-deserved lunch. A little know fact is that Gokyo Resort is also home to the highest bookshop in the world!  So it’s a great place to re-stock the reading material for the rest of the journey. Our team have spent the rest of the day relaxing, reading and taking photos. With a successful trip to 5300m, everyone can take great confidence that they are acclimatising well.  Every trip the team does to 5000m and above from now will come more easily.  In just 2 days our crew will be heading up over the Cho La pass so the rest time now is very important.

Be sure to keep following our team LIVE. Our Google Maps page tracking the team is really coming into its own now and you can clearly see the journey and route our crew are taking through the Everest region.
