We start this article by confirming that all Trek Climb Ski Nepal teams are safe and well. With news filtering in this morning of an avalanche in the Annapurna region of Nepal, we wish to advise all those with friends and family currently trekking and climbing with Trek Climb Ski Nepal that all our people are safe. The trips we currently have operating in Nepal are all a considerable distance (more than 200kms) from the Annapurna region where this latest avalanche is reported to have occurred.

We currently have a team of Everest Base Camp trekkers making their way to Deboche today (October 16) from Namche Bazaar and we can confirm they are all doing well in great conditions. This team comprises Tika Tamang, Chrystle Wellburn, Whitney Gorlitz and Sam Peterson. Our solo climber James Worth is tacking Ramdung and Parchamo with our expert climbing Sherpas Dor Tamang and Sonam Tamang. We are waiting for a satellite phone update from this team shortly but again they are in a different location and have not been affected by the heavy snowfalls that have recently hit the Annapurna area. We will hear from the guys shortly so stay tuned. Remember, we’re very proud of our #noshortcuts mantra. This reinforces exactly why all Trek Climb Ski Nepal teams are safe and well.

We should point out that this latest avalanche is being reported by some agencies as having hit the Annapurna Circuit. More detailed and recent reports advise this not to be the case given the avalanche has hit the area of Phu, which is considerably north of the main Annapurna Circuit and in a more remote location. The victims of this avalanche have been helicoptered to Manang (initially) which is a large village on the main Annapurna Circuit. It is being reported that up to 5 people have been killed (4 Canadians and 1 Indian) in this recent avalanche with another 6 Canadian citizens missing believed dead.

Friends and family of those on our current Trek Climb Ski Nepal expeditions, or anyone about to travel with us, don’t hesitate to contact us directly on Melbourne 03 8532 5334 or 1300 852 287.
