In Namche Bazaar

March 19, 2015

This is always a rest and acclimatisation day in Namche Bazaar. Some of our guests don’t always agree with the use of the word “rest” because in order to enjoy all the spectacular mountain views from here, there is always some uphill walking involved. Today our team will complete an acclimatisation walk to the Everest View Hotel which represents an important milestone in their preparation to go higher. Starting out in Namche Bazaar at 3440m, the team will hike up to the Everest View Hotel which is situated at just on 3850m. The vertical gain of 400m (and staying at this altitude for around an hour) then returning to sleep at 3440m is a valuable part of their thorough acclimatisation process. Enjoying a day in Namche Bazaar

It’s not all hard work, the views from 3850m are spectacular – especially when the weather is clear like it was today.  The weather has actually been kind all day and morning visits to the Everest View Hotel and the Namche Bazaar Monastery were enjoyed by all. Our trekkers will spend the afternoon today relaxing at the Namche Hotel and maybe even some shopping around the local stalls and markets. This is the last opportunity for a hot shower for a few days too, so no doubt the en suites will be getting a workout!
