Overview

Dhaulagiri Trek

Your Dhaulagiri trek begins in the vibrant city of Kathmandu, where you’ll spend a couple of days soaking up the rich culture and visiting iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the ancient Durbar Square of Kathmandu, the Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath, and the sacred Hindu temple complex of Pashupatinath. These places offer profound insight into Nepal’s spiritual traditions and centuries-old architecture — a perfect introduction to the diversity and depth of the country’s living heritage. After preparing for your expedition, you’ll embark on a long scenic drive deep into Nepal’s middle hills, reaching the trailhead at Darbang.

From here, your Dhaulagiri trek takes you through remote villages and dense forests, crossing suspension bridges and rugged mountain passes. The route reveals breathtaking views of towering peaks and pristine landscapes, leading you ever closer to the heart of the Himalayas.

As you ascend to the spectacular Italian Base Camp and beyond, you’ll encounter glaciers, icy moraines, and the famous French Pass – the highest point of the Dhaulagiri trek at 5,360 metres. This thrilling challenge rewards you with panoramic vistas of Dhaulagiri I and its neighbouring giants, surrounded by untouched alpine valleys.

Each day offers new cultural insights and natural wonders, culminating at the awe-inspiring Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4,740m), where the grandeur of the Himalayas feels almost within reach.

More than just a trek, the Dhaulagiri trek is a journey into Nepal’s wildest, most remote places – an unforgettable adventure for experienced trekkers seeking the ultimate Himalayan challenge.
