I worked with Tika to organise a trek for a group of awesome people all living with multiple sclerosis. Having climbed Mera Peak with Tika, and seeing his willingness to understand my experiences of living with MS and to support my journey with patience and kindness I had no doubt that having him organise this trek was the perfect pathway to ensure a truly incredible journey and indeed he was!! I had requested we have a female guide come with us to allow the chance to see more women guiding in the Khumbu region and we were joined by the amazing Maya, a deeply caring, highly compassionate and very competent guide, as well as by Gyan, Tika’s brother and an all round remarkable human- patient, light hearted, wise and empathetic. These three incredible people brought their all to this trip and ensured that our group was supported every step of the journey. It is not every day that a group that includes 7 members who all have multiple sclerosis takes on an adventure like this, and it is a big commitment for all involved. The trip could not have gone better! We walked in rain and sun, on days feeling strong and others depleted, we laughed and we cried- tears of happiness and achievement and tears of pain and exhaustion- and every day we woke up and gratefully acknowledged how lucky we were to be having this amazing experience. I will definitely be organising another trip for people with MS back up to base camp with Tika and I can’t recommend he and TCS highly enough! Thanks so much Tika, Gyan and Maya- you are wonderful, wonderful humans!!
