Mera Peak (with helicopter return)
Overview
Mera Peak (with helicopter return)
Our Mera Peak Expedition is the ultimate introduction to Himalayan climbing – a journey that combines challenge, culture, and breathtaking beauty, capped off with an unforgettable helicopter flight back to Kathmandu.
We begin by crossing the Zatra La Pass into the remote Hinku Valley, trekking through lush rhododendron forests, traditional Sherpa villages, and glacial valleys with Mera Peak dominating the skyline. From Tangnag and Khare, our team steps onto the ice, ropes up to cross crevasses, and climbs steadily to high camp at 5,800 metres. Then, under a sky filled with stars, the summit push begins — torches cutting through the darkness as the Himalaya comes to life around us.
At dawn, the horizon erupts in colour, revealing Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Kanchenjunga – five of the six highest mountains in the world. The Mera Peak Expedition rewards climbers with what many regard as the finest panorama in the entire Himalaya.
After your triumphant descent, there’s no need to spend days retracing your steps. Instead, board a helicopter from the mountain village of Kote and enjoy a spectacular flight through deep valleys and past towering peaks, touching down in Kathmandu one hour later. It’s the perfect balance of adventure, achievement, and pure Himalayan luxury.
