An evening for Nepal

rebuilding in nepal

March 7, 2016

Meet Tika Tamang during an evening for Nepal and see a special pre-release screening of “Sherpa – Trouble on Everest”

Namaste everyone,

Firstly, a quick update on the efforts of our Nepal Community Fund.

We’re excited to report we’ve completed a total rebuild of Tika and Mina’s parents’ house in the Solukhumbu that was levelled in the earthquakes. (We’ll get you some image soon!) A huge thank you and congratulations to everyone who has contributed to this project.

An evening for Nepal

You may be aware that our great friend Tika Tamang is currently in Australia helping out in Apollo Bay. I promised you a get together with Tika before his return to his family in Nepal and I have organised “An evening for Nepal” movie event to do this. Tika is hosting a special pre-release screening of the documentary movie “Sherpa – Trouble on Everest” at the Palace Brighton Bay Cinema on the Monday the 21st March, 2016. It will be a great opportunity for us all to catch up and say hi to Tika.

Sherpa is a thought provoking documentary about life in Nepal, particularly set against the avalanche at the base of Everest in 2014 which took 16 Sherpa lives. It touches on many aspects of our goals with our Trek Climb Ski Nepal Community Fund including emergency relief and shelter, ongoing accommodation and our rebuilding program. It also speaks to our educational support program for the next generation to break the cycle of poverty and create generational change. All proceeds from the evening will go directly to our fund.

There will be an opportunity to catch up before and after the screening and see what the Nepal Community Fund has achieved with your help. Come and chat with Tika and enjoy a different night out.

When: Monday 21st March, 2016, at 6.30pm (earlier for socialisation)
Where: Palace Brighton Bay Cinema, 294 Bay St. Brighton (North Brighton Railway Station close)
