Value Everest Base Camp Trek
Overview
Value Everest Base Camp Trek
Follow in the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on our Value Everest Base Camp Trek.
Your adventure begins in vibrant Kathmandu, where you’ll spend two days immersed in the sights, sounds and rich cultural heritage of the city. With a guided tour of some of Nepal’s most revered landmarks, you’ll get a true sense of this ancient capital before boarding a breathtaking mountain flight to Lukla – the gateway to the Khumbu.
On arrival in Lukla, you’ll meet your team of porters, shoulder your light daypack, and take your first steps on one of the world’s most iconic trekking routes.
After a gentle descent to the banks of the mighty Dudh Kosi, the trail gradually climbs, leading you across swaying suspension bridges, through rhododendron forests and into the heart of Sherpa country. Along the way you’ll visit traditional villages including Namche Bazaar and the spiritual haven of Tengboche, home to the region’s most important monastery.
Around every bend lies another photo opportunity – vast Himalayan peaks rising into cobalt skies. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam will accompany you throughout the journey.
After seven days on the trail, anticipation builds. A sunset climb to Kala Pattar (5545m) delivers an unforgettable panorama of Everest and the surrounding Himalayan giants bathed in golden light. The next day, you’ll stand at the foot of the world’s highest mountain at Everest Base Camp – a place that stirs emotion, pride and an overwhelming sense of achievement.

Day 4
Namche Bazaar
Today is a longer day on the trail so we start early for Namche Bazaar. After crossing the final suspension bridge above the Dudh Kosi (river), we begin up the famous Namche hill. If the weather is clear you’ll get your first view of Mt Everest en route. It’s a solid “up” to Namche but the rewards are great. Here we’ll spend 2 nights at the Namche Hotel which is home to the finest food, hot showers and hospitality in the Khumbu. Our hosts Ang Maya and Dorje Sherpa have been looking after us for years and our time at the Namche Hotel is a real highlight. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 5
NAMCHE BAZAAR
Today is an important acclimatisation day for us in and around Namche Bazaar given we’ve now crossed the 3000m mark. We’ll set off for an early morning walk up to the Hotel Everest View for stunning traditional views of Mt Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam. An hour or so here at 3800m will really help us with our acclimatisation to come. We’ll also visit the Namche Bazaar Monastery and receive a blessing from the buddhist Lama. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the local markets, bakeries and shops in Namche which is the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.

Day 6
deboche
Today we leave Namche Bazaar and follow a stunning trail toward Deboche via Tengboche. The path contours around the valley, with sweeping views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse, before descending through forest to the river at Phunki Tenga. From here, we climb steadily up to the famous Tengboche Monastery, the spiritual heart of the Khumbu. We’ll take time to explore the monastery and enjoy a coffee or pastry at the popular Tengboche bakery, all while surrounded by dramatic Himalayan peaks.
After soaking up the atmosphere, we descend through quiet rhododendron forest to the peaceful village of Deboche, where we stay overnight at the lovely Rivendell Lodge.

Day 7
Dingboche
Today we continue our journey from Deboche to Dingboche, gradually gaining altitude as the landscape becomes more open and rugged. The trail winds through peaceful forest before crossing the Imja Khola via a narrow suspension bridge, followed by a steady climb to the village of lower Pangboche, one of the highest permanent settlements in the region and home to one of the oldest monasteries in the Khumbu.
As we continue upwards, the trees begin to thin and the terrain becomes more stark. The views of Ama Dablam dominate the skyline, growing more dramatic with every step. After a few hours of steady trekking, we arrive in the broad, windswept valley of Dingboche – a busy village nestled beneath towering peaks on both sides. Overnight in Dingboche.

Day 8
around dingboche
Today is another important acclimatisation day, giving our bodies time to adjust to the altitude before we continue our ascent. We begin with a lazy start and a hearty Sherpa breakfast at Bright Star Lodge, enjoying the relaxed pace and soaking in the surrounding mountain views.
By mid-morning, we’ll set off on a gentle acclimatisation walk up the valley toward Chukhung and Island Peak, following a scenic trail that offers breathtaking views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and the soaring ridgelines of the Imja Valley. This walk allows for a gradual altitude gain, which is essential for a safe and successful trek to Everest Base Camp. We’ll take it slow, pausing for photos and enjoying the vast, open landscape that now surrounds us.
In the afternoon, we return to Dingboche for another night at 4410m, where rest and hydration are key. There’s time to relax, read, or chat with fellow trekkers before dinner. This second night at altitude plays a vital role in preparing us for the higher terrain ahead. Overnight in Dingboche.

Day 9
LOBUCHE
Trekking from Dingboche to Lobuche is one of the most breathtaking and emotionally charged stretches on the trail to Everest Base Camp. A key highlight is passing through the Thukla Pass, where stone memorials honour climbers who lost their lives on Everest – a sobering and deeply moving experience. The altitude becomes more noticeable, the air thinner, and every step starts to feel heavier, but the sense of purpose intensifies as we draw closer to the mighty Khumbu Glacier and Everest Base Camp. Overnight in Lobuche.

Day 10
Everest Base Camp
From Lobuche, we follow the edge of the Khumbu Glacier on our way to Gorak Shep, surrounded by towering peaks and the raw beauty of the highest mountains in the world. After arriving, we refuel with an early lunch before setting off for the final push to Everest Base Camp. Walking at a relaxed, steady pace, the journey takes around three hours, with plenty of time to soak in the views and capture photos along the way. Standing at Everest Base Camp, in the shadow of the infamous Khumbu Icefall, you’ll feel a powerful mix of awe and accomplishment. After the celebration and a few well-earned high-fives, we return to Gorak Shep for a hearty dinner and our final night sleeping above 5000 metres.

This is a true highlight of this journey and weather permitting is not to be missed. We then head back down to Gorak Shep for breakfast before setting off for Lobuche. Lunch today will be at Lobuche and then we’ll continue the easy trek down valley to Pheriche (4370m). Pheriche has become a vibrant Sherpa community and you’ll find plenty of interesting shops to keep you busy. Overnight in Pheriche.
