Ama Dablam
Overview
Step into the Heart of the Himalaya on Our Iconic Ama Dablam Expedition
Join Trek Climb Ski Nepal for the ultimate Himalayan climbing experience โ the Ama Dablam Expedition. Rising to 6,812 metres, Ama Dablam is one of the most beautiful and recognisable peaks on Earth. Known as the Matterhorn of the Himalaya, it offers a technically demanding yet incredibly rewarding climb for experienced alpinists seeking a true world-class challenge.
Your journey begins in Kathmandu, Nepalโs vibrant capital, where ancient temples, sacred stupas, and lively markets create an atmospheric introduction to the expedition ahead. After final gear checks and a guided city tour, we board the flight to Lukla โ the gateway to the Khumbu and the start of our approach to the mountain.
Trekking To Ama Dablam
The trek to Ama Dablam Base Camp is a spectacular introduction to the region, moving quickly from lush forests to alpine terrain. We follow classic trails through Sherpa villages such as Namche Bazaar and Pangboche, places steeped in mountaineering history and Himalayan culture. Before moving to Ama Dablam Base Camp, we complete a warm up ascent of nearby Island Peak โ the perfect acclimatisation climb and a valuable opportunity to refresh high-altitude skills.
Climbing Ama Dablam – the Southwest RiDGE
From Base Camp, the expedition becomes a focused mountaineering challenge. Ama Dablam is famous for its exposed ridges, technical mixed climbing, and the iconic Dablam hanging glacier that dominates the skyline.
Over several rotations you will establish higher camps, build familiarity with the route, and grow comfortable moving efficiently at altitude. The climbing is steep, exciting, and deeply rewarding โ granite rock, snow ridges, and fixed rope sections combine to create one of the most iconic alpine routes in the Himalaya.
Standing on the summit is an unforgettable moment. The panorama stretches across Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and the vast Khumbu Himal โ a view earned through skill, determination, and teamwork.
Climbing Ama Dablam is more than a summit attempt. It is an immersion into the spirit of high-altitude adventure, a deep connection with the mountains, and an achievement that stays with you long after you return home.
