Poon Hill Trek
Our Ghorepani โ Poon Hill Trek is a perfect short Himalayan escape that blends natural beauty, cultural encounters, and gentle adventure. Crafted by Trek Climb Ski Nepal, this nine-day journey offers spectacular views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges with moderate trekking through rhododendron forests and traditional mountain villages.
Starting with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Birethanti, the trail passes through Ulleri, Ghorepani, Tadapani, and Ghandruk. Trekkers enjoy warm hospitality from Gurung and Magar communities along the way, surrounded by terraced hillsides and alpine flora.
Poon Hill Trek Adventure
The highlight of this trek is the sunrise hike to Poon Hill (3,210m), offering panoramic Himalayan views including Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre. The route also allows for cultural immersion with monastery visits and local guesthouse stays. Itinerary
Day 1
ArrivAL in Kathmandu
Arrive at Kathmandu International Airport and be warmly welcomed by your Trek Climb Ski Nepal team. Youโll be transferred to your hotel accommodation where your expedition leader will issue your down clothing, sleeping bag, and kit bag. That evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with your guides and fellow climbers – the perfect introduction to your Island Peak adventure.

Day 2
Kathmandu Sightseeing
After a delicious breakfast, spend the morning exploring Kathmanduโs cultural highlights, including temples, markets, and heritage sites. The afternoon is at leisure, with our staff on hand to help with any last-minute purchases. Relax and enjoy a free evening in Nepalโs colourful capital.

Day 3
Drive to Pokhara
After breakfast, embark on a scenic 6โ7 hour drive west to Pokhara, the gateway to the Annapurna region. Enjoy the changing landscape of rivers, villages, and terraced farmland along the Prithvi Highway. Upon arrival, check into your lakeside hotel and take time to unwind or stroll along Phewa Lake. Pokhara is a laid-back city and the perfect place to rest before your Poon Hill Trek begins.

Day 4
Drive to Birethanti & Trek to Ulleri
This morning, drive from Pokhara to Birethanti, the starting point of your trek. After checking permits at the ACAP checkpoint, begin a steady ascent through lush forest and riverside trails. Pass through Tikhedhunga and tackle the famous stone staircase to reach the hilltop village of Ulleri. Enjoy your first night in the mountains with views of Annapurna South and warm hospitality.

Day 5
Trek Ulleri to Ghorepani
Leave Ulleri and climb gradually through rhododendron and oak forests, home to colorful birds and monkeys. Pass several waterfalls and traditional Magar settlements along the way. By afternoon, arrive at Ghorepani, a charming village with panoramic views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. Enjoy sunset views from your lodge and prepare for your early morning hike to Poon Hill.

Day 6
Hike to Poon Hill & Trek to Tadapani
Start before dawn for the highlight of your Poon Hill Trekโan early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210m). From the summit, witness a stunning sunrise over Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre. After breakfast back in Ghorepani, continue your trek through misty forests to reach Tadapani. This peaceful village offers exceptional views of Machhapuchhre from your teahouse window.

DayS 7
Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk
Todayโs trek is a pleasant descent through dense rhododendron forest and terraced hillsides. Arrive in Ghandruk, one of the largest and most beautiful Gurung villages in the Annapurna region. Explore the Gurung museum and local monastery or simply relax with stunning views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. This cultural gem is a great way to end the trail section of your Poon Hill Trek.

Day 8
drive to Nayapul & Drive to Pokhara
After breakfast, trek down stone paths through terraced fields and small settlements toward Nayapul. Enjoy your final moments in the Annapurna foothills before meeting your vehicle for the return drive to Pokhara. Check back into your hotel and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Celebrate the successful completion of your Poon Hill Trek with a lakeside dinner.

Day 9
Fly or DRIVE TO KATHMANDU
Drive back to Kathmandu through scenic middle-hill countryside, passing river gorges, farmland, and bustling roadside towns. Stop for meals and photo opportunities as you return to Nepalโs capital. Arrive at your hotel by evening and enjoy a farewell dinner with your guides and team. Share stories, exchange photos, and celebrate the successful completion of your poon hill trek

DEPARTURE DAY
After breakfast, youโll be transferred to the airport for your international flight home. Say farewell to Nepal, your guides, and the majestic Himalayas. Our Poon hill trek Trek includes 3 nights at The Radisson Hotel (or equivalent) in Kathmandu. Trek Climb Ski Nepal also provide a complimentary welcome dinner with drinks in Kathmandu on the first evening of your trip. While trekking in the mountains, you will stay in lodges each night
This trip includes all meals while in the mountains along with morning and afternoon teas.
We proudly employ an all you can eat food and fluids policy on all our trips. Proper food intake and regular hydration are critical to safe altitude acclimatisation.
