Today our Everest Circuit team of Ray, Sue, Carl and Gyan will head to Khumjung.  Khumjung is one of the larger villages in the region and home to the Khumjung Secondary School (Hillary School) established by Sir Edmund Hillary in 1961. Khumjung is also home to the famous ‘Yeti’s head’ which is able to be viewed at the local Gompa – for a small fee of course. Tomorrow the team will head to Dole on their way further up valley towards the beautiful Gokyo lakes and Gokyo. Be sure to check out the map highlighting their route.

Day 7 of our Everest Circuit Trek and the team Sue, Carl and Ray are doing a great job sending updates and another round of pics landed in my inbox last night. Well done everyone and I’m sure your friends and family at home are enjoying being able to follow your trip. Today the team will head to Dole which will see them rise to 4038 metres in altitude. You certainly know you’re getting up there once you pass the 4000m mark and the views up valley to Cho Oyu (8201m) are simply stunning. Cho Oyu is the 6th highest mountain in the world and our crew will enjoy uninterrupted views of this Himalayan giant all the way to Gokyo.

We rate our Everest Circuit trek as probably the best trek available for those that are fit and are up for a challenge. It’s a more demanding undertaking than most of our other trekking itineraries but the rewards are significant. You’ll get above 5000m on at least four occasions throughout this trip – each of these a major highlight in itself. Those highpoints being:

  1. The summit of Gokyo Ri
  2. Crossing the Cho La pass
  3. The summit of Kala Pattar
  4. Everest Base Camp
