If you don’t have much time, our Everest View trek is the perfect short Nepal trek for you.
We hear from lots of people who’d like to experience trekking in the Everest region of Nepal but time is an issue. The difficulty with an Everest Base Camp Trek is it will take you a good 17 – 18 days, including nights at the start of your trip in Kathmandu, to do it safely. The reason for this is because a safe acclimatisation to 5300m (the altitude of Everest Base Camp) will take you 9 days.
The perfect solution for those wanting to trek in the Everest region – and of course to see Mt Everest – is a short Nepal trek like the Everest View Trek offered by Trek Climb Ski Nepal. This trip takes in all the highlights you can possible achieve in the Everest region in the short amount of time available.
No time, no worries
After arriving in Kathmandu, you’ll enjoy a welcome dinner and drinks with your Sherpa leader and guides. The next morning you’ll be up early for the scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. This flight takes around 35 minutes and the scenery is stunning. TIP: Be sure to sit on the left hand side of the plane. On arrival at Lukla you’ll enjoy a hearty Sherpa breakfast at Namaste Lodge with one of our favourite lodge owners in the Khumbu – Kami Sherpa. After breakfast we hit the trail for a steady 3 hour walk to Phakding. We stay at Phakding overnight in a beautiful forest setting right beside the Dudh Kosi river.
The next morning we’re up early and we begin our short Nepal trek to Namche Bazaar. We are walking for 5 – 7 hours today and much of the journey is uphill. If the weather is clear today, there will be a good opportunity to see Mt Everest around halfway up the Namche hill. The effort to Namche Bazaar is well worth it and we are greeted warmly by Ang Maya and Dorje Sherpa who own and operate the Namche Hotel. The Namche Hotel is our favourite lodge in all of Nepal. The food, the hospitality and the hot showers are second to none. We love this place like a second home and you’ll immediately feel the special connection we share with our hosts.
The next morning you have plenty of options. A morning walk up to the Everest View Hotel at 3800m is a must. This is a famous viewing place and from here you’ll take in a spectacular Himalayan panorama including Mt Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam.
Plenty of Everest views on our short Nepal trek
You should spend the rest of the day exploring all the Namche Bazaar has to offer. Highlights include the Namche Bazaar Monastery, the Sherpa Cultural museum and the local Tibetan markets. There are also lots of great shops with plenty of bargains on offer if shopping is on your agenda. Day 5 on our standard itinerary is listed as a free day and this is a day intended for you to choose where you’d like to go and what you’d like to see. Our Sherpa team will happily make suggestions and a side trip to Thame is a popular option. There are a host of short day walks possible from Namche Bazaar with Khumjung and Khunde also popular destinations.
Our short Nepal trek heads back to Lukla on day 6 and given its mostly downhill, the distance isn’t too taxing. We stay with Kami Sherpa at Namaste Lodge for our final night in the mountains and it’s a great way to finish up. If you like spicy food, be sure to order the chilli chicken! The next morning we fly back to Kathmandu and re-check into The Radisson Hotel for our final night.
This short Nepal trek can easily be tailored to add days and can even be reduced by one day. If you’d like to experience trekking in the Everest region with our experienced and dedicated Sherpa team, then don’t hesitate to contact us at Trek Climb Ski Nepal.
